3/20/14 Meeting Minutes

RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE PROJECT

Someone came from the Appalachian and wants to do a video project on relationship violence. 2 or 3 people are needed if anyone's interested.

SUMMER HOURS

We discussed whether or not the Women's Center should be open over the summer. A few people will be here but they are not sure what their schedule will be like. Its good to have the center open on days when there are orientation groups or special events. This is something we need to keep in mind. If you'll be here over the summer, let Melanie or Suzette know.

MULTICULTURAL END OF YEAR SOCIAL

The Multicultural Center End of Year Social is on April 10th, and we need to nominate people for student awards!! The categories are Outstanding Executive, Most Dedicated Member, Best New Member, and Most Valuable Member. Turn in your submissions in the Women's Center or next week's meeting.

SGA SENATE

We voted for our SGA Women's Center Senator. The two candidates were Katelynn and Justice. We voted for Justice and she is now the Women's Center Representative.

CALL FOR VAGINA MONOLOGUES DIRECTORS

Melanie wanted to know how we would go about selecting a new Vagina Monologues director for next year. The call has officially gone out so if you're interested talk to Melanie. We also need to somehow contact all the actors and anyone else who may be interested. If you know anyone who may be talk to them and have them chat with Suzette or Melanie! We do not vote on who to chose, Suzette and Melanie will make that choice.

WOMEN'S CENTER FILM FESTIVAL

The woman who was going to speak after the movie Beautymark that we voted on earlier this year unfortunately has fallen ill and can no longer come. A possible solution that was offered was to have a Women's Center Film Festival. We would show Wonderwoman, Beautymark, and Missrepresenation. We could offer extra credit to women's studies or sociology majors, etc.  We may either try to have our own concessions or hold it in Greenbriar. We voted to have this Film Festival as well as buy the rights to Woderwoman.
